More pictures of the ATL aquarium by Editor's request. They have a place where you can touch the stingrays, and sharks...that was really cool. They also have a HUGE wall of glass where its almost like a theatre and you can watch the fish. They have glass ceilings in some areas, so the fish are swimming around you and above you. Those are the Spider Crabs at the bottom...they were huge. SubhanAllah.

Omg, hammerheads! Did you touch them?

I love the belugas man. They're in a tank on their own? If I recall correctly, I'd watched a clip on youtube of the whale shark in the big theatre-like tank you mentioned.

Absolutely stunning, masha Allah. Jazakillahu khair for sharing! :)

Btw, if I can just touch on something from comments in the previous post... The whole zoo/aquarium thing is part of the bigger conservation efforts really. Especially in part of educating the masses.

Yeah, there're some places in the world which have horrible, almost-cruel settings for the animals. But for the most part, zoos try best to imitate the natural environments eh.

Wallahu a'lam. I just love zoos lol.

Thanks again for the pics!

Walaikum salaam

I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. The belugas are the first thing you see as you walk in. It is hard to touch some of the hammerheads and sting rays. They wouldn't come to me, so I had to wait for like 10 minutes ...lol.

Alhamdulillah, I realize that without zoos and aquariums, we wouldn't be able to learn about a lot of the animals and its really great that most of them try to emulate the natural environment, but Allah has given these animals sooooo much space. The seas, oceans, mountains, and forests are all so spacious. Being in any closed space is never going to be the same life. Wa Allahu alam.

At the same time, they don't face as many hardships, searching for food, mates etc. You're also right in that people are trying to make it part of a bigger conservation effort, so inshaAllah in the long wrong its beneficial.
I hope it is, because I also love zoos and aquariums. Jazakillahu khair for your comment.

BTW, There is a series on Discovery called Planet Earth...and its 11 parts. Each covers a different habitat of the Earth. ( Check it out here:http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/planet-earth/guide/guide.html
Wallahi this was an incredible eman increaser and eye opener to the ayat of Allah (swt). I might actually buy the set.
